I made a couple more trees yesterday to keep what could have been a truly foul mood at bay. Well, Ptichka helped prevent some ugliness too with a diversionary trip to Timmy’s for a coffee (double cream). Things could have gotten out of hand. So, without further time spent on my hypothetical bad mood, here are the trees!
Beads! Why didn’t I think of beading earlier? So small, so fiddly, so calming, so rewarding.
This tree was a collaborative effort, which means that I made it all sucky and Ptichka fixed it. The embroidery is all me. The sewing together is all her. Next week, I’m going to actually try my hand at machine sewing. I’ve already picked out a project and everything (this pouch). I need to make friends with the sewing machine.
And now, it’s time to pack. We’re off to the country for a marathon baking session. I’m not quite sure what we’re making aside from old-fashioned jam sandwich cookies, some chocolate-mint wafers from the latest issue of Everyday Food, fruitcake (don’t be a hater before you’ve tried homemade without the weird electric fruit), almond bark, and something involving salted cashews. My mother-in-law is a hardcore cook (and her daughter takes after her), so there will be much added to the list. I don’t quite know what’s going on because they’re the brains of this operation, although I’m the one insisting on the mint-chocolate wafers, and I’m the mule (ask me about the grocery store) and the brawn. As long as they let me eat some of the cookies, I’m cool with that.
Have a great weekend everyone! I’ll be back with a report about the baking marathon and a post about my inspiration board. Promise!
